Communications & Development Officer
We are seeking a talented and dynamic Communications and Development Officer to join our team. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in advancing HELP’s mission by leveraging your expertise in communication strategies and fundraising initiatives.
Role Description:
Reporting to the Head of Communications & Development, the Communications & Development Officer will use expert communication skills and a keen sense of initiative to spot fundraising opportunities, develop relationships with potential donors, and manage internal and external communications. By executing events, drafting grant proposals, and executing marketing campaigns, the officer will hone communication and interpersonal skills and develop leadership abilities while moving HELP closer to its goals.
Key responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and implementation of fundraising strategy and programmes for significant giving (from individuals, corporates, foundations) to achieve the fundraising goals
- Prepare fundraising grants/proposals and donor reports, presentation materials and correspondences with donors
- Manage budget development and cost-tracking
- Work with HELP’s fundraising advisory committee to identify opportunities and create an effective fundraising plan
- Work with HELP’s communications advisory committee to identify opportunities to raise HELP’s public profile
- Cultivate a network of dedicated donors and volunteers
- Form and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders
- Develop content and design for marketing collaterals, campaigns and social media
- Identify media opportunities and work on press releases, media pitches etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Communications and Development.
Required skills and qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and at least three years of experience in fundraising, sales, or marketing. Work experience in a non-profit organisation is an added advantage
- Strong interest and familiarity with migrant worker rights and issues
- Passion for research and experience in writing grant proposals and fundraising pitches
- Flexibility and openness to learning
- Ability to successfully balance priorities while managing multiple tasks and planning small or big events
- Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
- Well-organised, self-motivated, team player, able to work as part of a multi-cultural team and also independently
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
- Fluent in written and spoken English. Fluency in verbal and written Cantonese is an added advantage.
Salary and benefits commensurate with the chosen candidate’s experience and competencies.
(Salary range between HK$ 20,000 – HK$ 22,000).

Marketing & Communications Internship
This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on marketing and communications experience through your active involvement in social media management, content creation, and brand promotion. You will play a vital role in enhancing our HELP’s visibility and expanding our reach.
Key responsibilities:
- Conceptualise and implement marketing and communications initiatives and campaigns
- Designing and presenting new social media campaign ideas.
- Write and design engaging social media content for Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram
- Monitoring all social media platforms for trending news, ideas, and feedback
- Work on the annual report, research reports, etc.
- Collaborate with staff on new ideas, directions, and activities for marketing and communications
- Working with vulnerable interviewees and confidential information
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Communications
Qualifications and Experience:
- Students with a solid academic background with an interest in the non-profit sector.
- A firm grasp of social media and campaign development.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have experience in Canva
- Experience in WordPress and Mailchimp is a plus
- An interest in photography and videography will be highly advantageous.
- A good team player with a “can-do” attitude
- Previous experience working in non-profit organisations is advantageous.

Programmes Internship
As a Programme Intern, you will get the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in program management and contribute to the successful execution of various initiatives.
Role Description:
We are looking for undergraduate or postgraduate students who are interested in working with our Programmes Team in supporting our MeHeal Mental Health programme or HELPing Hands Educational programme. Under the oversight of the Head of Programmes, you will be given the opportunity to gain invaluable first-hand experience to:
- Support in the organising and implementing of, but not limited to, MeHeal Mental Health programme or HELPing Hands Educational programme
- Assist in volunteer management
- Assist in HELP’s beneficiaries’ and community leaders’ engagement
- Assist in monitoring projects and drafting periodic reports
- Assist in developing long and short-term project ideas, including research to strengthen and expand the existing HELP programmes
- Undertake other administrative tasks and project activities as may be assigned from time to time.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Excellent command of English (both written and spoken). The ability to speak Cantonese, Filipino, Bahasa Indonesia, or Sinhala is an added advantage.
- Able to work independently but knows when to ask for support.
- Is familiar with Google Workspace and Canva.
- Strong writing and research skills.
- Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks, prioritise responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail is crucial for accurate record-keeping and data management.
- A solid academic background with an interest in the non-profit sector.
- Has a good team player with a “can-do” attitude.
Available to start on the week of 22 April 2024 and can work flexibly from Monday to Friday (10 am to 6 pm) for a minimum of 24 hours per week plus occasional Sundays, weekly working hours and end dates are negotiable.
