Tantri

The journey for migrant domestic workers like Tantri is often daunting and isolating. For Tantri, adjusting to an unfamiliar living and work environment, while also being unsure of herself and her rights, presented significant challenges. Living in a foreign country, she felt scared, confused, and lacked confidence.

But everything changed when Tantri discovered HELP’s educational workshops. These informative sessions helped her gain a deeper understanding of her rights and responsibilities. Just as importantly, the workshops connected Tantri with a community. She met other migrant domestic workers facing similar struggles. Sharing their stories, fears and triumphs, they draw strength and inspiration from each other.

Today, Tantri continues to empower migrant domestic workers to understand their rights and build supportive networks. “I’m no longer the timid, unsure person I once was,” Tantri reflected. “I’ve grown so much and I’m excited to continue making a difference alongside my community.”

Community leaders such as Tantri help uplift their communities in several ways. By providing practical help and raising awareness about issues concerning rights and mental wellbeing, she helps her peers gain the knowledge and confidence to improve their work and living conditions.
