Our Indonesian Case Manager Betty Wagner was pleased to be invited to a dialogue meeting with Indonesian Attorney General Mr HM Prasetyo on Monday 4 December 2017. Mr Prasetyo discussed the prevalence of drug traffickers using migrant domestic workers as drug mules and the dangers of radicalism. He stressed the importance of raising awareness about these issues and encouraged NGOs to work with the government to this end.
Also in attendance was Nurul Qoiriah, Head of the IMO’s Hong Kong Sub-Office and other representatives from migrant worker’s groups.
There are now about 170,000 Indonesian citizens in Hong Kong, the majority of whom are employed as domestic workers.
